Sunday Best: Wide Leg Denim

It's been a while since I was able to shoot for the blog! I definitely miss it when I'm pulled away, but between getting sick, my regular mom duties, and working on my Instagram game...I really haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I would like to an actual post.

I will say though, you guys have been loving all of the new branded content I am putting out - like the try ons, today's #mood board, shop page content from my social media looks, and new slides for IG. I can't tell you how much I obsess over this type content, so I really appreciate your positive feedback.

Should I jump on the wide leg denim (WLD) trend?

Yessss. Honestly, why not? Give it a try, I think you'll like it, and possibly add a new style to your basic skinny jean collection. Some people find styling difficult, but here are a few tips:

  • Go for a darker wash. I personally love a light wash for that super 70's feel, but if you're just dipping your toe in the WLD trend, stick with richer tones. Dark washes are also slimming, so if you're worried about adding bulk to your lower half, this should help.
  • Try going cropped. WLD is a bold silhouette, opting for a cropped version will make it feel less costume-y and more sophisticated. It's also less overwhelming on your frame, because you can see your ankles (typically the smallest part of your leg) which balances out your shape.
  • Wear heels or wedges. I'm 5'3 so WLD can make me look a little Sponge Bob Square Pants if I don't add some height. Go nude or white to lengthen the look even more.
  • Look for a high waisted option. Elongating your body is key when dealing with a dramatic shape like a wide leg. Even an inch or two extra up top will balance out your body. I like to wear a crop top, or do a half tuck to show off the high waist.

I hope this helps you navigate one of my favorite trends, and maybe encourages you to try something new! At the end of the day, it's just have fun with it.

*NOTE: I have the Cult Gaia ark bamboo handbag in size small. Unfortunately it's temporarily sold out, but I've listed the mini as well as the XL below. I've also tracked down two bamboo bags under $50 that have a similar look and feel. You can shop them here...
